Forensics: Mystery at the Museum– The Case of the Missing Dino Bone
Thursday, January 23, 1:30pm–3:00pm
Detective, we need your help solving the case of the museum’s missing dino bone. We’re sure it's an inside job, but we need your expertise in forensics to analyze the clues left behind at the scene of the crime. Do you think you can figure out “Who Dunnit?”
Students will be rotating through different stations in the museum.
Dissection: Hearts and Hematology
Thursday, Feb 20, 1:30pm–3:00pm
We hope no hearts were broken this Valentine’s Day, but we will be “breaking” into a pig’s heart in this lab to better understand the function of our own hearts. Hemophiliacs worry not, no real blood is used in the other half of our program where we discuss what is in our own blood and why knowing your blood type is very important!
Students will be working in groups of up to 5 members sharing 1 specimen for the dissection.
Electricity: Volts & Jolts
Thursday, April 24, 1:30pm–3:00pm
Be prepared to have a shockingly good time learning about electricity and circuits with us in this program that has everyone positively buzzing! This program wouldn’t be complete without an electrifying demonstration from our World Record holding Musical Bipolar Tesla Coil. You won’t Watt to miss it!
Warning: Those with internal medical devices may want to consult with your doctor as this program does work with electricity and has a potential for light shocks.
Dissection: Science of Vision - More Than Meets the Eye
Thursday, May 22, 1:30pm–3:00pm
In this insightful lab, we explore the inner workings of a cow eye to better understand the function of our own vision and test the cooperative powers our eyes share with our brains with some optical illusions and color play.
Students will be sharing a specimen with a partner.
