Thursday, September 11, 1:30pm–3:00pm Welcome to the wonderful world of the invertebrates! There are literally millions of different invertebrate species that make up 90 - 95% of all animal life on Earth. We are going to dissect an Earthworm and a Crayfish to observe just a small sample of the different body plans this diverse phylum offers. 1:1 student:specimen ratio Wear clothes that may get dirty.

Dissection: Frog

Thursday, October 23, 1:30pm–3:00pm Hop on over and take a look inside the quintessential dissection specimen, the humble frog! a hands-on biology activity where students explore the internal and external anatomy of a frog to learn about its body systems and how they function. It provides a concrete example of vertebrate anatomy and can help students understand evolutionary adaptations and the link between structure and function in living organisms. 4:1 student:specimen ratio Wear clothes that may get dirty.

Genetics and Taste

Thursday, November 13, 2:00pm–3:30pm The way we perceive taste is influenced by our genetics specifically through the genes that code for taste receptors on the tongue. We will explore simple genetics concepts and play around with our taste receptors using Miracle Berries! Food Allergy Warning: Citrus (lemon, lime, grapefruit etc..), Pickles, Salt and Vinegar Chips, Mustard. Please alert us to any food allergies or bring known safe foods you would like to try.

Dissection: Pigeon

Thursday, December 18, 1:30pm–3:00pm Flight in vertebrate animals is pretty rare seeing as how its only bats and birds that are capable of it. We’ll look at the adaptations birds have that allows them to soar through the skies. Then, we will build and test our own flying machines in our wind tunnels. 4 or 5:1 student:specimen ratio Wear clothes that may get dirty.
