    History

    Original Location – Main Street

The Museum of Natural History & Antiquities opened in 1927 on Main Street. It is Little Rock’s oldest museum. The original collection featured the well-publicized “Head of a Chicago Criminal.”

    Second Location – City Hall

Mrs. Babcock gave the museum to the City of Little Rock as a Christmas present in 1929, and the museum moved to City Hall.

    Third Location – MacArthur Park

The museum relocated to the Tower Building of the federal arsenal in MacArthur Park in 1942, where it remained for the next 55 years.

    Current Location – River Market

The museum moved to the River Market in 1998, and remains today.
