Exhibits and Experiences

With multiple galleries, science shows and programming, we have dynamic, interactive experiences perfect for everyone!

Pardon our Progress

We are currently renovating two galleries. Room to Grow Gallery and WOW Gallery will be closed until November 23, when we debut our new galleries: Small Fry Fish Camp and Curiosity Spot.

Small Fry Fish Camp is an immersive exhibit designed for children aged 6 and under to explore, play, and learn. Curiosity Spot is an engaging, hands-on exhibition created to inspire creativity and exploration.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to explore the museum?

Although the experience and visit time for everyone is different, we recommend guests plan to spend a minimum of two hours at the museum.

What ages are recommended to visit?

Our museum is for all ages! We offer dynamic and educational experiences for toddlers to grandparents. We also make a great date spot!

Guests younger than 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

For the “Littles”

Curie’s Kiddie Corner, our temporary early childhood classroom for children 4 and younger (and their families), includes a soft play area for crawling babies or new walkers. Additionally, the space contains a building blocks and more.

Our PPG STEAM Studio provides a Tinker Tots section with sensory play and basic art, problem-solving and critical-thinking activities.

Our new galleries, Science Lab and Dynamic Earth, incorporate dispersed early childhood exhibits so the “littles” can engage in hands-on learning at the same time as their older siblings and/or adults.

We also host a program for children 6 and younger called Wiggle Worms that introduces them to STEAM concepts. Wiggle Worms begins with a book and concludes with a hands-on activity. It is held at 10:30 a.m. every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday (please check event calendar for weekly schedule and topics.)

For All Ages

Our entire museum offers hands-on education experiences that range from simple to complex educational experiences. Each gallery, except Curie’s Kiddie Corner for ages 4 and younger, contains exhibits perfect for kids and big kids alike!

Adults Only – Science After Dark

Science After Dark is our evening, adults-only event that occurs several times a year. Each event has a different theme/topic and allows adults to explore the museum and participate in hands-on activities. Cocktails, beer and food are sold, and admission is only $5 or free for members.

Are there places to eat in or around the museum?

We do sell snacks and drinks in our Explore Store. Additionally, there are many family-friendly restaurants within walking distance of the museum (see below list). Museum admission is good for the entire day, so guests are welcome to leave to eat and show their receipt at the front desk when they return.”

Guests who bring in outside drinks or snacks must consume them in the Gigabite Café, which is directly behind the Great Hall. Food and drink are not allowed in the galleries.
