Sixth Annual Tinkerfest Sept 16 at Museum of Discovery

Little Rock, Ark. (September 7) – For the sixth year, the Museum of Discovery will present Tinkerfest, a one-day festival that celebrates innovation, making, arts and creativity from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, September 16.

Tinkerfest unites technology with craftspeople, artists, educators and families for DIY (do-it-yourself) fun.  There will be activities that will allow all ages to tinker and learn how things work.

More than 40 activities are planned, including:

  • LEGO Pinball
  • Car Take Apart
  • Robotic Programming
  • Giant Spin Art
  • Zipline Making
  • LEGO Rover Build Challenges

There will also be a variety of food trucks for visitors to enjoy.

“Tinkerfest has become the biggest and arguably the best day of the year at the Museum of Discovery,” says museum CEO Kelley Bass. “All the activities align perfectly with our mission – igniting a passion for science, technology, engineering, arts and math in a dynamic, interactive environment. And anyone who’s been to Tinkerfest can tell you there’s no more ‘dynamic’ and ‘interactive’ environment imaginable.”

Tinkerfest activities are included in the museum’s regular daily admission: $10 for adults, $8 for children 1-12 and free for infants younger than 1. Seniors, teachers, Little Rock city employees and active and retired military are admitted for $8.

The event is sponsored by Kiewit, Discovery Network, Dassault Falcon Jet, Staley Electric, Baldwin and Shell, East Harding, Entergy, Garver, Mr. Plastic, Arkansas Virtual Academy, Union Pacific, Southwest Power Pool, Welspun, Arkansas School for Math, Science and the Arts, ACE Glass, Clearpointe and Enbridge.
