Museum of Discovery Reopening Directives and Procedures

Before planning a trip to Museum of Discovery, please review a list of our directives, safety procedures and exhibit closures:

Directives from the Arkansas Department of Health (ADH):

  • Face masks are required for everyone age 10 or older.
    • Masks should cover your mouth and nose. There should be no gaps between your face and the mask.
    • If you do not have a mask but wish to visit, you can purchase a disposable mask at the admissions desk for $2 per mask
  • Please maintain a minimum of six feet of distance inside the museum from individuals not in your party

DO NOT Enter if you:

  • Have had fever of 100.4°F or greater in the last 2 days
  • Have a cough, difficulty breathing, sore throat, or loss of taste or smell
  • Have had contact with a person known to be infected with COVID-19 in the previous 14 days

Guests who do not comply with the above directives will be asked to leave and will not receive a refund.

To protect vulnerable people from COVID-19, ADH discourages you from entering if you:

  • Are aged 65 or older
  • Have chronic health conditions like diabetes, heart disease, lung disease and others
  • Have a compromised immune system

In addition to the ADH directives, Museum of Discovery has implemented a number of policies and procedures for the safety and comfort of our guests. These include:

  • Staff and volunteers will undergo temperature screenings every morning
  • Limiting crowd size to less than the two-thirds capacity per the ADH directive (if museum staff determines we are reaching our capacity, we will post on our Facebook page at http://facebook.com/museumofdiscovery
  • Increased cleanings
  • Increased number of hand sanitizer stations

During the museum’s closure, a number of safety installations were made that include:

  • Hospital-grade air filters throughout the building
  • UV lights in all air ducts to destroy airborne viruses, bacteria and pollutants
  • Plexiglass shields at the admissions and Explore Store desks
  • NanoSeptic self-cleansing pads on all door handles

Closings:

Some spaces and exhibits will be closed or removed from the floor when the museum reopens. This will allow staff to determine best cleaning practices or procedures for future guest usage. Some of these closures include:

  • Gigabyte Café
  • Tinkering Studio (tinkering activities will take place outside of the studio)
  • Downstairs bathrooms will be closed to the public Mondays through Fridays for use by Discovery Camp attendees.
    • A sink is available in the Arkansas PBS room downstairs (to the right of Tinkering Studio) for those who want to wash their hands
  • Tesla Theater

Room to Grow:

Room to Grow, the six and younger gallery, is now open! Please review our gallery rules:

  • The number of Room to Grow guests will be limited for social distancing
  • No more than 5 children in the climber at once
  • Adults, please keep your children 6 feet from other guests
  • Room to Grow will be closed periodically throughout the day for cleaning, as needed

We are very thankful for our corporate sponsors.
