Museum of Discovery and Staley Electric Partner to Unveil Permanent LED Exhibit

“ExcitoTron,” a new LED exhibit that will allow visitors to create temporary works of art with light, will debut Saturday, March 5, at the Museum of Discovery.  The exhibit, sponsored by Staley Electric, will remain a permanent installation at the museum.

ExcitoTron is a wall composed of more than 10,000 LEDs (light-emitting diodes).  Hand-held controllers allow visitors to activate the LEDs with an invisible beam of light the controller is emitting.  The controller in turn communicates to the thousands of micro-controllers which color each individual LED should glow.  ExcitoTron is the invention of Andy Griebel, an Arkansas technologist and entrepreneur.

“Museum of Discovery is doing great work in our community to ignite imagination and teach a passion for the sciences,” said Brent Staley, chief executive officer for Staley, Inc.  “It’s incredibly important for children to have access to exhibits, like ExcitoTron, to learn in an engaging way. Staley Electric is passionate about nurturing the next generation of designers, innovators and electricians, so the Museum of Discovery is a natural fit to further our cause.”

We are very thankful for our corporate sponsors.
