SUMMARY:Alice Augusta Ball & Dream Big\, Little Scientists
DESCRIPTION:As a special Juneteenth edition\, Little learners ages 6 and under can join a special Wiggle Worms program featuring a reading of Dream Big\, Little Scientists followed by a colorful chemistry activity using indicators. Guests will also learn about pioneering chemist Alice Augusta Ball\, whose groundbreaking work led to a treatment for Hansen’s disease. \nWiggle Worms introduces children\, ages 6 and younger\, and their families to science through fun and hands-on activities. The program takes place in our great hall and is held Tuesdays\, Thursdays and Saturdays at 10:30 a.m. We begin with the book I Love Rocks and then move to the activities. \nWiggle Worms is included in regular museum admission or free for members.

DESCRIPTION:Join us this summer for a free storytelling series with Zinse Agginie\, featuring lively folktales\, memorable characters\, and meaningful lessons for all ages. These interactive sessions invite museum guests to gather\, imagine\, laugh\, and explore stories inspired by African folklore and creativity. Thank you to the Arkansas Art Council for funding these sessions. \n\nFree with admission to the museum.\nThere are 3 sessions per day.\nTickets are given on a first-come first-serve basis at the museum on the day of each session.\nSpace is limited to 25 guests.\n\n  \nSTORY ONE:    June 6th\, 11am\, 12pm\, & 1pm \nWhy Spiders Fear the Sun \nIn this story Anansi the Spider decides to bring excitement to his world by organizing a feast. Theplot cleverly shows how promises made without honesty can lead to trouble\, and how chaos can result when everyone’s fears and differences are ignored. The story ends with a resolution\, where Anansi apologises and learns the values of honesty and kindness. \n  \nSTORY TWO:    June 13th\, 11am\, 12pm\, & 1pm \nAnansi and the Itching Village (an original written by Zinse Agginie). \nSelfishness\, jealousy and greed are the main themes of this story. Anansi decides to disrupt an important village festival through the use of itching\, only to become the victim of his own plot. \nLesson: Sharing and kindness and being a good member of your community is better than tricking. \n  \nSTORY THREE: June 20th\, 11am\, 12pm\, & 1pm \nBeware of Strangers.      \nMother Antelope’s three babies did not follow her rules about how to live in the forest. This brings a dangerous consequence that they luckily escape. \nLesson: Rules are very important. \n  \nSTORY FOUR:  June 27th\, 11am\, 12pm & 1pm \nMend Your Manners or How Tiger got Stripes on Her Coat      \nA story about two animals who started as friends\, and the consequences of bad manners. \nLesson: Treat everyone with respect. \n  \nSTORY FIVE:  July  4th\, 11am\, 12pm & 1pm \nThe Eagle And the Birds.    \nThis is a story about the consequences of bullying and selfishness. Eagle Uses his size and tricks to frighten the other birds and tke things from then.This leads to a hard punishment for him. \nLesson: Kindness and fairness will always help you.
