    Volunteer Opportunities / Careers

    MOD Volunteer

If you’re still as curious as a kid, help engage tomorrow’s teachers, scientists and engineers at the Museum of Discovery as a volunteer. Discover what it’s like to encourage a child to lie on a bed of nails, get sneezed on,  measure the amount of blood in his body, play with gravity, make electricity….or experience a tornado, experiment with “Whoosh” and observe all kinds of animals. Can you imagine the fun and the learning?

The Museum of Discovery needs you to help kick off all these new experiences!

    What could I do?

    • ReDiscover the interactive exhibits by engaging the visitors and keeping a watchful eye in the galleries.
    • Provide ongoing help in the new Gift Shop.
    • Join the docent staff and receive additional training.

    When could I help?

    • Shifts are 2 hours each.
    • Weekends: Saturday 12:00-2:00; 2:00-4:00 and/or Sunday 1:00-3:00; 3:00-5:00
    • Weekdays: Tuesday - Friday: 10:00-12:00; 12:00-2:00
    • Wear a white shirt with a collar and any pants (avoid torn jeans, please)

Please join us at the Museum of Discovery to enhance each visitor’s experience. Contact Debra Grandle, Volunteer Services Manager at dgrandle@museumofdiscovery.org or 501.537.3087.

    Teen Volunteer Program

The Museum of Discovery is kicking off a new Teen Volunteer Program with a summer opportunity.

Through work as a Discovery Camp Counselor, teens develop leadership skills while volunteering in an environment which fosters a passion for science, technology and math. Students ages 14-18 are invited to apply for positions as Discovery Camp Counselors. Counselors will be selected from a pool of applicants who complete the application process.

Details are included in the application packet.

    Key dates:
    ·
May 18: Deadline for the receipt of the completed application packet.
    · May 29: Notification of successful candidates.

If you know teens who are interested in volunteering in our dynamic, interactive environment, please have them complete the entire application packet and return it to Debra no later than May 18.

For more information, please contact Debra Grandle, Volunteer Program Manager, dgrandle@museumofdiscovery.org, 501-537-3087.
