    How People Make Things

    June 22, 2013 to September 22, 2013

This exhibit, inspired by Mister Rogers' Factory Tours, tells the story of how familiar childhood objects are manufactured, and the people, ideas and technology used to transform raw materials into finished products. It takes you into four major manufacturing processes through hands-on activities, factory tour videos, product displays and role-playing opportunities.

Every object in our world has a story of how it is made. How People Make Things tells that story by showing you the ways in which familiar childhood objects are manufactured, and the people, ideas and technology used to transform raw materials into finished products.

The exhibit brings the manufacturing experience to life, taking visitors onto the factory floor through:

    • Hands-on activities in cutting, molding, deforming and assembly where you create objects to take home.
    • Role-playing opportunities
    • Factory tour videos
    • Live demonstrations
    • Projects that let families learn and discuss ideas after their visit.

    Robots + Us

    October 12, 2013 to January 26, 2014

Meet the lifelike intelligent machines known as robots—machines we have passionately created to maintain and extend our human capabilities as well as amuse us. Why do we both embrace and fear them? The answer lies at the curious intersection where humans meet machines. Families and children of all ages will learn from and enjoy Robots and Us.
